Jackson’s life is very well known throughout the world, accompanied by a very successful career, making him a part of pop culture for 4 decades. In a few years, he was often touted as one of the most famous men in the world.

Michael Joseph Jackson was born on August 29, 1958, in Gary, Indiana, an industrial area on the outskirts of Chicago. He is descended from an African-American Joseph Walter “Joe” Jackson and Katherine Esther Scruse. He is the 7th child of 9 siblings. His siblings include Rebbie, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, La Toya, Marlon, Randy, and Janet. Joseph Jackson has played in an R&B band called The Falcons, with his brother Luther.

Jackson once stated that since childhood he experienced violence from his father, both physically and mentally, such as unrelenting training, whipping, and calling him a rude call.

However, he also admitted that the discipline applied by his father had a big influence on his success. Marlon Jackson told, ever in a dispute, Michael was lifted upside down then beaten on the back and buttocks.

It was also one night when Michael was sleeping, Joseph climbed from his room to the door of Jackson’s room. Wearing a scary mask, he entered the room, screaming to frighten Michael.

Joseph said that he did that to teach his children not to leave the bedroom window open while sleeping. For years after that event, Michael often had dreams of being kidnapped from his room. In 2003, Joseph admitted to whipping Michael when he was a child.

Jackson first talked about his little problems when he was interviewed by Oprah Winfrey in 1993. At that time he also said that when he was a child, he often cried lonely and sometimes vomited when he saw his father. On the show Living with Michael Jackson (2003), Michael is seen crying over his face when he tells about his childhood.

Jackson performed his musical talent at a young age when he sang in front of his classmates at a Christmas recital at the age of five. In 1964, Michael and Marlon joined the Jackson Brothers – a band founded by his brothers: Jackie, Tito, and Jermaine – as supporting musicians, Michael played congas while Marlon tambourine.

Sometime later, he began to take on the role of a background singer and joined in the dancing. And finally, at the age of 8, he and Jermaine became the lead singer, and the name of the band was changed to The Jackson 5. The band toured the central part of the United States extensively from 1966 to 1968. In 1966, they won several shows local talent scout.

The Jackson 5 has recorded various songs, including “Big Boy”, for the local record label Steelwotn in 1967 and signed a contract with Motown Records in 1968.

Rolling Stone magazine then described Michael as “a miracle” (prodigy) with “extraordinary musical talent”. The Jackson 5 began to enter the charts when the first four singles (“I Want You Back”, “ABC”, “The Love You Save,” and “I’ll Be There”) took the first place on the Billboard Hot 100. In the early days The Jackson 5, Mowton’s public relations department claims that Michael was 9 years old, even though he was 11 years old at the time. Starting in 1972, Michael released four solo albums with Motwon, including Got to Be There and Ben. The band’s sales declined in 1973.
